Megan Scherer      This project is a continuation of asking the question Where do I go, when sleeping, and when arriving at a new place from sleep. Why does the rain from outside my dreams infiltrate's my subconscious while dreaming? How does my body know when to wake up before arriving to my desired location? Why do repeated sounds and movements cause me to fall asleep? This video explores all of these questions, without answer. The questions have no answer because most of the time there is no true real answer. Leaving me and the viewer with the question "Where do I go?".          Using my camera, stand, and lots of video editing. I was able to overlay, and time lapse, and layer different videos to portray my feelings of dreams. Leaving the viewer with a feeling of drifting in and out, and not knowing what is happening first. Also adding a feeling of nonsensicalness, doing things for no reason, and confusion as to why I am doing things...

Final Project Proposal     Megan Scherer              This project is an extension of the project "Where do I go?" This piece will be an extension of my dreams in the landscape, going through multiple questions about dreams. Where do we go, why do we gain consciousness, why do we forget our dreams?  How does our vision change in our dreams and outside of them? This short video exploration of dreams explains in a single viewpoint about this characters dreaming.        I thought long and hard about this and completely fumbled on what to do. I decided that there are tons of different elements that I want to expand on in my first project. I'd like to shoot for 10 mins of film time, as well as add a story line to the film. For example, falling sleep scenes, as well as a story line after the flower cutting. The reason that I want to expand this project, is because I think its a concept worth expanding, on to...
Writing Assignment #3 Megan Scherer The main focus of the reading was that Noise can cause a violent uprising against a governmental power or authority in general. That would be a single sentence summary, when this piece of literature is much more than a single sentence. The one thing that stood out to me the most was this quote "We attempt, through our aesthetics and our fierce commitment to politics of joy and desire, to create a space of carnival, where all rules are broken and anything is possible. We seek to dissolve all barriers between art and politics, participants and spectators, dream and action". Continuing on with the essay the author described being in a big crowd, in the rain, knowing that being a part of this crowd, he was making history. It was a peaceful march, filled with breaks, snacks, starbucks, and even music. You can always make a difference without interfering violently, causing harm or disturbance to others, on top of knowing when to keep to yourself...

Journal Walk #6

Journal Walk #6 Megan Scherer This assignment was way too fun. After reading some of the examples I realized I’m way too loud, and way too expressive to try to hide away till someone realized. My family is filled with big personalities. So, I went with something subtle, while expressing how I feel. Yesterday I had a graduation party with my family, extended family, as well as friends. I also am a person who folds in on themselves when they get gifts. I was luckily enough to receive congrats from my family, to the point where I felt like I had a silver spoon in my mouth. “Silver Spoon” is a phrase that’s used to describe someone who was born into a wealthy or privileged family. For this project, I leaned into that. To see if my family had enough time and patience to notice, see if I could make this stand out in a day to day setting, and challenge myself to be reined in by a silver spoon. Also... I couldn't help myself, one of my dogs name is Spoon, so this was also dedicated to havi...

Journal walk 5  Megan Scherer For this walk I chose to walk for my sister. She is a professional dog person, aka dog walker. Her and my mom own a company that helps dogs get out of the house when owners can’t. She loves her job, but what she loves even more is her dogs. Moose, Tucker, and Finley. These dogs are her pride and joy, so her favorite walk’s include taking them around town. For this walk I chose to take my mom, since my sister walks with her all the time. These were some questions I asked to gauge how this walk would end up.  Emily walk questions  What do you enjoy most about walking with your dogs?             Making them happy.             Seeing them get excited  What do you look for in a good walk?              Nice weather             Well behaved dogs (usually)  Do you have a favorite walking path?  ...

Project #1 Megan Scherer Where do I go?          Is a piece I made about the strange things we do in a dream. How we wake up in strange places, and cant quite tell if we are having a dream or not. Using the land around me I collected flowers to float a bouquet down the river. The reason I chose this river, is due to it not being seen as pretty, or clean as a water source. Flowers in this situation can refer to ephemeral beauty not being able to be kept. The environment allowing me to sit with the beauty for a while before returning it back to its rightful owner. Overall, dreaming and beauty doesn't last, and does not belong to us.
Writing #2 Megan Scherer                     I chose to read "No Dead Air! iPod and the Culture of Mobile Listening" by Michael Bull. This informative essay is about how the iPod changed the game when it came to feeling good in public while creating your own space in public. To break it down the iPod gave people control over their mood through music, their choice to change the mood based off the tune. On top of listening to their own music in public without playing something out loud to cause attention and break the personal space in solitude. Therefore, lending people to create space for themselves in public with the solitude and choice in their music preference                     One thing I wanted to point out was this quote "What reigns there is actuality, the urgency of the present moment. Since non-places are there to be passed through, they are measured i...
